hello , just a question for theses who know , i'm learning electrical tomographia and i know it is differrent way to arrange probes in the soil and the common are : " wenner  " , schlumberger " , " pole to pole " ect... , all these probes are in line but a friend of me work with " cavefinder " from OKM and he always put the fours probes in the soil in square config , the question is : what is this square config with the probe or it's just an innovation from OKM ?

The Square Array is a special case of the Equatorial Array. The name derives from the electrodes forming the shape of a square—with the four sides of the array being of equal length. This array is used most frequently in determining anisotropy, or the resistivity in different directions of a geological formation. Instead of expanding the electrodes, in Square Array surveys, the square is typically turned 15 degrees around its center point for each measurement.

Hello AK48.

I have been doing some research and I think your safe from getting shocked, if you follow instructions .

I attached this resistivity manual that has some interesting specs. 97 cycles per second, High Frequency LOL !!!

If you do some more research you might be able to build something and save a ton of money.

You may have seen this PDF Folder already. Let us know exactly what you are Looking for.  I have a Feeling you are also needing information on 2D or 3D real time display too,  Since you were discussing OKM Products. Keep us posted on your Work . Thank-You

Hello and thank you Eugene, indeed, I am learning because I want to build a resistivimeter a little sophisticated and I have collected a lot of documents on the subject, I am beginning to understand the subject very well and the only instrument I have at hand is the cavefinderB from OKM, however, this company is not very talkative on its device and in their manual, It is said that this device sent frequencies into the ground while for professional manufacturers it was electric current, on the other hand, specialists say that for the survey to be effective and more accurate  it is necessary that for the equatorial configuration there are two surveys and that the electrodes must be rotated 15 degrees for the second survey.
I'm going to start by making Beck and Becker's devices for study and finally make my own.

That 15 degree rotation might be to find any anomalies in comparison to the first survey. Also wet ground or Dry Ground from winter to summer has its differences too. On another subject I was also trying to find the EPE magazine original article about PIC Magnetometer Project. I had it but can't find it now ??

here in Algeria the ground is very dry almost all the year, it is a little like at your home : the mojave desert and for that there is a solution, it is necessary to dig front holes for each electrode and to put a solution of water and salt there : 250 grs of salt for one liter of water and  then insert the probe into the ground so that there is optimum contact between the electrodes and the ground, the electrodes must be inserted at approximately 20 to 30 centimetres in the ground.
