Go Up Go Down

On my way to my sisters home friday, I noticed the "Very Large" piles of fill dirt they are using to fill in for a new overpass over 301.  I m so tempted to MD these piles of dirt, but wonder if anyone knows who I should contact to see where this fill dirt comes from.  I have yet to see a name on the trucks.  The area is not secured, and I would be able drive my van in there, but not sure who I should contact first.

I know this dirt has to come from someplace, but not sure where I need to call or look.  Poss someone knowes where all this "fill dirt" comes from?  It is very dark and looks more like potting soil.

Any feedback would be appreciated!!!

SharenH

SharenH check with the state highway dept. Florida has some tough laws about MD on state land but you can get permission with a little work.
GOOD LUCK

On the subject of mounds of dirt - I saw some in an area along the river, just upstream from a boat launch, while I was detecting one day. Decided to check it out and saw a quarter at the base, then a dollar bill poking out about eye level, beeped a set of keys and a few more coins as I went around them. Weeds were growing in the mounds of fine dirt so they'd been there awhile. Realized it was where the city had dumped street sweepings at some time. Sue

One things for sure, you won't have the Archaeologists hounding you for disturbing a pristine dig if your detecting fill dirt.....if you get the permission, keep your eyes open for non-metallic treasures.
