Go Up Go Down

  Like I needed another Project.

Well glutton for punishment I am.  It would seem I'm building a ""Urban Assault Metal Detector Bike.""   A Motorized Fat Tire Urban Assault Bike to go  Metal Detecting the local parks and other points of Interest.  Gathering the parts here.  Have the Engine.  Upgrade for Carburetor.  Upgrade for Tuned Exhaust. Still need a few bits and bobs like a sprocket adapter and goodies.  Going to try and fit dual sprockets on rear to enable transversing washes as well as the roads.  Waiting for the Tax Man to pay back his loan for the Bike it's self.

Think I've entered the Second Childhood Stage of Life.

My thinking here is to come up with a bike like this guys but I'm adding a rack on the Back.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Go Up Go Down

Pulled the Head and Jug off yesterday to see what I was sure I would see.  LACK OF QUALITY !  Got out the Mr Dremel and went to work.  Rooted out any and all Burs and Casting Flashing I could find.  Cleaned up and rounded up both the Exhaust and Intake Ports. Taper and widened both a few mm.   Don't know how they got it together as good as they did .  One of the Jug Studs was bent.  Ordered New set (STAINLESS)  .  They don't use Jug Liners in these things just Plated Nickel or Chrome Bores.  NOT MUCH of the that.  Good thing about these is you can buy new piston/Rings and Jug for like  $25.00.  I must have got lucky with this one.  The Crank shaft is Two Peace not three and has SOME indications of being Balanced.  Unlike other I've seen.  Japanese Bearing not Chines. Wrist Pin Bearings are caged even if somewhat sloppy in the saddle.  LOL

LOL, If you call it that.  I just did what I seen everyone else doing to get them to run at the rated HP.   Take a few mm off the sides of the Exhaust Port and Round off all corners top and bottom.  Lets them breath.  Same with Intake exception REALLY rounding off the lower part of the Port.  Emmmm And Notch the Piston as much as it was restricting the Intake port.    Sorta at a Stand Still here now.  Tax papers filed today.   Waiting for the Tax Man to repay the loan.    No Polishing Intakes that's some what a NO NO.  Two schools of though on weather to Polish or No Polish.  Just the Exhaust port gets the Buff and Shine.

Did that years ago to my old Yamaha DT1 and later RT1. Made a big difference.
One was 250cc the other 360.
