Boy they guy must have huge Huevos, cause he sure don't have any brains. Black bears will attack. At least 2 people a year on average are killed by Black Bears alone.

Sometimes the best thing to do is just stand there and wait for the animal to get along with his business, I once me a man that had a plane crash in SA in those years there were still a lot of wild animals and he came face to face with a lion, he was telling us that he just stood still and waited till the lion moved on, he also said that it was one of the best things to do in such a situation and if the lion had to charge do not move he will stop, turn but could charge again and that you only had one option and that was to make yourself look bigger by opening up your jacket but should the lion charge a third time you were history. I had a bad experience with a baboon, the baboon had a young and this stupid baby decided that my leg would make a nice climbing pole needless to say that the mum did not approve but I had the reaction of getting this thing of my leg and threw it close to the mum, the problem was solved but could have ended very badly for me.

You are lucky it was a female. If it was a male, he would have made a pile of rubble out of you. Males are very territorial, and they think every female around belongs to them alone and no matter the species.
I once took my sweetheart to a wild animal zoo outside the city and we stopped to look at the baboons in a fenced area. When I reached down to grab my sweethearts hand to lead her to the next exhibit, the baboon went berserk and tried to rip open the screen surrounding the pen. It was making violent wild noises. The keeper told us to move away very quickly so he could calm him down.
For wild bears out here they tell us to face the bear, act calm and slowly back away. Never run, because the bear can out pace you very quickly.
