this is completely intact and is made of either porcelain or ceramic, anyone know the history of it?  or maybe a date?

I've seen many of those, they are not that old. Look around at some of the electrical poles in your town, Im not sure what they are for exactly but Ive seen them everywhere, they even have smaller ones in older homes and other places, Ive seen them in the basement of an old factory I used to work in hooked to the old electrical wireing.  Wink

     awesome, thanks for the info, i tried looking it up earlier today and found some similar to it. the thing that really interested me about this one, was the fact that it was smoothe on the inside, there were no threads like the glass insulators i find
