Go Up Go Down

It has been ultra hot in Arkie Land.

I have not found anything to speek of in a while.
My back has been out and I just wilt big time in
this Arkie sauna we call outside....... But today I
hunted a full three hours.

I have heard that two guys were huntin in my
best tot lot. I just decided to hit three tot lots in
that area and see what tha damage was.

Here are tha three little sand pits I hunted in
with MisSpeedy,

{alt}

{alt}

{alt}

To tell ya tha truth, I wanted to quit.

I got really hot, but I kept goin til I gave them all
a fair goin over.

I am glad I did. I found a 14k gold chain on tha
last tot lot.

{alt}

Tha gold chain is tha one on tha outside in this
photo, and it is the only one that is not broken.

Cool,,,,,,,

{alt}

Are maybe neat would be a better word. I wish
it was COOL!

I found two rings. One appears to be silver,

{alt}

There were also some clad, and some ear rings.
That yellow thing with white poka-dots is actually
an ear ring,,,,???

{alt}

Then thay had a bunch of this stuff fer old Tabdog,

{alt}

I do not mind, as long as they leave a little gold
now and then,

Tabdog

That is some nice finds that you got there.  I have yet to find some gold, but I know sometime I will.  I'm focusing on clearing out the junk and modern change from the parks. Grin

Yes, I have two town parks that each have two different tot lots.  However, I haven't searched a school as of yet.  I yet to search any school grounds.  The town parks are what I am focusing on, but I know that I can handle more locations than that.

I suppose that you use a certain size of a coil for parks? I personally use a 4.5" coil for good ID, I'm not sure what is the best for spots like parks and such.

I am afrade I got you beat on tha number of parks I hunt.
There are around 30 parks in Little Rock, which is close to
me. Then there are about 10 surrounding towns. Most of
those towns have more that two parks. A few have several.

Tha best schools are tha ones where neighboorhood kids
can use tha school as a play area.

For most tot lots, it is my beliefe that nothin can beat a
Tesoro Compadre. It is as cheep as a coil. It has a fixed
5.75" concentric coil. It is also a killer in heavy heavy trash.
I paid $80 for one, and got the other new. $152 with a life
time warranty.

Caint beat that with a stick!

I use tha 5.75" concentric more than any other coil. I have
one to fit four of my five machines.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Wow, that is a cheap machine.  I suppose that most of your tot lot finds and park finds are the result of this Tesoro Compadre? I may look into this machine, since I have been looking at it before.  If I am correct, I think Minelab is the manufacturer of the Tesoro Compadre?

Hay Metal_Inspector,

You asked;

If I am correct, I think Minelab is the manufacturer of the Tesoro
Compadre?

Jack and Myrna Gifford founded Tesoro Electronics in their family
garage...... Their sons, James and Vince now run the company in
Prescott Arizona.

Jack was an accomplished engineer who worked for BH, Fisher
and others. He partnered in another company and has to his
credit some of the better designs of tha past.

This is a statement made by Jack when he started Tesoro in
1980;

"It has become apparent to me over the past few years that there
is a place for, even a need for, a metal detector manufacturer who
is dedicated to the independent dealer market. The products should
utilize the best of today's technology to provide maximum sensitivity.
They should be rugged, but light enough that anyone can use them.
They should do their job without "bells and whistles" that only
increase the cost. And finally, the company should remain loyal to
their dealers and be responsive to their needs and desires. It is with
these principles in mind, that TESORO was founded."

Jack was a prospector before he was an engineer. He had gold on
his mind and designed his machines accordingly.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Oh, yes I see now.  Tesoro is its own company.  I see it says that it does not have the "bells and whistles".  Does the Compadre let you know what it finds, since it does not respond with bells and whistles.  Or you just discriminate and then go off and dig up every beep it makes on the accepted metal?
