Wow, I can only get about but....five coins in two hours.  I go to parks and I know that they would have just as much as a school would.  And the park I went to today had a school from 1880!! Nothing but junk came from it.  Oh, and I found my first ring today, a old silver ring.  Nice, but worn and thin as well as light.  It was a nice little surprise after finding three pennies!! Grin

Nice job by the way!!

Thanks MI,

It is not as amazing as it seems. The entire area
I hunted was pea gravel.

I never kneeled down.

Most targets were uncovered with my foot and I
just bent over and picked them up.

I can tell deep targets. I can tell big iron. I did
not dig those.

I dug everything else.

I used no discrimination, except to ID some targets.
I did not ID many. Just scooped them up to quick.

I have developed my recovery techniques to the
point that I can recover about 300 targets an hour
under tot lot like conditions.

But, tha targets have to be there.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Oh.  The tot lots I looked in seemed to have a bit of everything, from foil to pennies.  I found a 1952 wheat in one of the tot lots, maybe about 3-4 inches in there somewhere.  I had also recovered two earrings that are nice silver from them as well.  I found only a clad dime and memorial penny out in grass area of the park.

I believe that I am doing the same method as well.  Maybe different.  I use my Last Mode switch, to change from jewelery mode to iron mode.  When I hear a bell tone, I turn on Zero mode, and then I will listen for that deep tone of iron and move on.  When I question a signal, maybe like multiple beeps in one swing, maybe about two to three beeps in one swing, I dig it.  Other than that, I just listen for the good tone of the change.  Pennies usually ring up as gold on my detector for some reason. Grin

Anyways, I had went to my towns park twice, and then I went to a neighboring towns park once.  With those combined, I had found two earrings, one sliver ring, and $2.10 in change.  It is a nice start, since it is my first time out in the park.  I have always hunted in very rural areas, mostly coming up with iron, but sometimes I find good relics.

I love relics.

But I also have gold feaver.

Let me tell you a little story MI.

There is a tot lot one mile from my house.
It frustrated me because it had small bits
of shreaded aluminum in tha wood chips.
It was packed with tha stuff.

It tha winter of 07 and 08 I decided I was
going to take it all out.

For months I recovered tens of thousands
of little peices of aluminum.

There was some good finds, as well as some
gold.

I never got all tha bits out, but I got most
of it, and tha tot lot is easy to hunt now.

I got a real big prise out of that tot lot.

That prise is what I learned.

If I am in a good spot, I do not leave much
unless I am sure it is not what I want.

Other whyse, I dig.

In less productive spots, I cherry pick.

Happy Huntin, and thanks fer listenin,

Tabdog

One of the tot lots I went to had some kind of little pieces of some kind of metal.  About the same size and color of the tire chips around it, it seemed to have been lead or something of the sort.  I fished out most of it, but nothing came out of that lot.  I moved on to the next one, where I found the three pennies and ring in a swing set area.

I do dig a lot of trash, and I usually keep it and take it home.  There, I dispose of them properly so that they never have to set foot on the ground, so to speak.  I do have several relics, and I have an ol' cast iron axe.  It looks like one of the first ones.  Found it in one of my farming fields, pretty lucky it wasn't harmed.  When this year is over, I will post pictures of my finds.  This has been my best year out of any.  I hope the same goes for you!!
