Idle hands find stuff to do, here are some "silver" items that I have found over the years that are larger than normal, two silver bangles not sure if they are actually jewlery or from liquor bottles a silver "snow flake" dated 1976 found about 1" under the surface, a silver "hand mirror" found about 2" under the surface, the mirror was intact but the glass was broken. the Indian head is for size comparison.

The mirror looks art nouveau c1900 is there any markings on it?

The bangles I think you are right about them being labels for liquor decanters

Its a little blurred but you will see the word "sterling" stamped on the rim.
I also have a "sears Roebuck" catalog 1908 that has almost the exact mirror on one off the pages.......

OK I see it now blind old man [me not you]
art nouveau and art deco hand mirrors were very popular around the turn of the 1900's and bring high prices today. I showed my wife she said in good condition she would ask $225 in her shop so don't melt it down just yet.

Hi Foiled again.
I've started to "gather" my old finds again I am saving most of the picks for the winter when a lot of us are frozen in, I found these items some years ago, and I am surprized at all the stuff I forgot that I had, these were found "pre" didgital cameras thats why I do not have them recorded as found like we all do today..

Hi john I'm just starting my collection I started metal detecting about 5 years ago, detected one summer, got discouraged and put it away. In February I dusted it off and have been at it since. I have been doing much better after talking to other people and reading posts on here. Foiled

Hi Foiled,
Glad to see you are persevering, we all have days where we get "skunked" had a few myself just seems now days after so long I have developed an instinc and always come back with "something" I  have a mindset that where there has been population for many years you are more likely to discover the older items.
It works for me...........HH..........Johnnn
