This soooo goes against what I was taught as a child. We could trust what was written in a book and even more so in the older books but like you say today's book writing is about money not facts.

It is a good thing most of the members aren't following this thread very closely because the moderators are setting a very good example of how NOT to stay on topic (even if they are staying with the apparent demise of scholarship and the changing "popular" standard of what constitutes accepted non-fiction versus obvious fantasy).
