Hi hardluck. The KGC, Knights of the Golden Circle, was a secret order similar to the freemasons. The KGC was originally founded in 1835 and reorganized in 1854. This organization became the Confederacy's strongest ally in the Civil War and continued on, under various guises until 1916. I've posted some links on another topic on this new subforum that will help you to better understand them.

Actually, the original KuKluxKlan was created by the KGC as its military arm after the War and, unlike traditional history tells us, this KGC-created groups original purpose was to protect the lives of Southerners of all races. Later, when the KKK fell under the influence of others outside the KGC, its purposes changed. That is when General Nathan Bedford Forrest, C.S.A., disassociated himself from it. Other KGC post-war organizations included the Knights of the White Camilias and the Bulldozers. The Knights of the Golden Circle went underground after the Civil War to avoid detection and used more "normal" fraternal organizations like the Knights of Pythias to hold their meetings. Many believe that most of the KGC treasures were buried across the country several years after the War ended.

Thanks TJ......I'll check the book out. I knew there was a connection, it's been about 20 years since I last viewed any sources. Most of the secret societies have a common thread........They don't want anyone to know about thier inner workings and secrets and most members are under blood oaths of one form or another............Have a good one.....John in Va.....

Hi Hardluck. I believe what you say is true. I believe also that a desire and willingness to learn new and interesting things is one way to keep yourself "young". It definitely keeps one's mind young. I'm happy that you discovered this new subforum and hope you will keep posting. I can honestly say that learning about the Knights of the Golden Circle and the massive amount of treasure they left behind and then diligently searching for some of it has been one of the most enjoyable aspects of "treasure hunting" I've ever been involved in.
I'm posting a photo of Albert Pike who was thought by many to have been the genius behind the Knights of the Golden Circle.

Hello TJ.........Pike was a freemason, Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish rite bodies of the Freemasons. Pike also had great leanings toward Luciferian beliefs as stated in his book Morals and Dogma. He held those in the low degrees of the blue lodges at best as useful idiots according to his writings in Morals and Dogna. Basically he said they are purposely decieved by the adepts thru false interpretations and so on. I've been to where he's buried in Wash. DC etc.. Also, was John W. Booth associated with the KOTGC?

Hi John. Yes, General Albert Pike, C.S.A. was a fascinating and very intelligent individual. I read where his statue in Washington, D.C. is the only statue of a Confederate general in the whole city.
John Wilkes Booth is also an interesting guy to study. He was a Knight (of the Golden Circle) before 1861 and he was the person who introduced John H. Surratt, the conspirator in the Lincoln plot, to the secret organization and even accompanied him to the KGC castle in Baltimore in late 1860 to be inducted into the order. One of the most important books to be revealed in recent years has been "The private journal and diary of John H. Surratt, the conspirator (1866)". I learned a lot about the rituals and ceremonies of the KGC from reading this diary and I also learned a lot about the Lincoln assassination that they sure did not teach me in school.
