Oh, dear. There's no evidence that he wasn't in France during the Civil War either. Does that mean your are open to the fact that he is the great grandfather of Brigitte Bardot?

No actually, I have to agree with you, he was not in France. Whats your point?

I am glad that someone did point out that there is no physical proof or evidence. That is why it is more a legend than hard fact. But then again, glass half full, half empty. We have no evidence that he was not a member. Being open minded, I try not to discount either side, because we are in fact, as has been said here before, dealing with legend. A mason jar becomes several jars, then becomes several barrels of silver and gold. Some individuals still talk of El Dorado.

Are you kidding me? You cannot be serious. Glass half full, half empty....we have no proof he wasn't a member...open minded? What part of that is open minded? Open minded usually means you are willing to accept evidence that will sway your opinion, or way about how you think about an issue. Open minded does not mean gullible because someone spins a good yarn about unimaginable heapin' piles of wealth.

Jesse James was not a legend. The Knights of the Golden Circle were not a legend. Pretty much everything about both are well known...and recorded. Well...except the aforementioned heapin' piles of wealth

Let me ask our resident naysayers, RO & GD two simple questions:  1)  What is the basic source about Jesse James that you consider best represents your views and beliefs about him?  [Is it a book, article, DNA test or what?]  2)  Do you accept the only book dictated by "Mrs. Jesse James" and authorized by her as being a credible source of information about Jesse Woodson James?
Please, just answer the questions and don't change the subject criticizing others or their research abilities.  If you can't even answer Question #2 and give the book's title, then you really aren't qualified to criticize anyone else.

Sort of missed the part where I said that a mason jar becomes several jars, then they become several barrels of gold and silver. Legends begin small and they grow with each retelling. Did the James brothers hide money. It's possible, but it seems that everyone keeps jumping to the "heaping piles" line of thought.

Proven to the net I am an idiot? Strong words, my friend   Wink    Although your idea what a *legend is, and mine may differ...lets try to be adults about it, eh?

*legend - A legend is a very old and popular story that may be true.

Jay, is it your primary agenda to simply attract new members to your yahoo site?  I get a kick out the discussion around JJ and KGC, but dang man... every other post doesnt have to link to the yahoo group that a regular browsing kind of guy can't view without "taking the KGC oath" (joining the group).

That makes no sense. Thats completely irrelevant to the subject and I never said anything about that. And there actually is proof that he's not her great grandfather. One, because thats a stupid idea. And two, and there is proof he was never in france. He maintan a close presence in his area.
