i barely recall a documentary where they were looking for a grounded steamship on the mississ.

turned out to be in a guy's corn field a mile?? from river.point being the ole miss. changes it's bed big time~over time.hope thats not the case with this one!

They actually found it in Kansas and you're right- It sank in the Mississippi but the river shifted. They excavated it and it' now a museum.

Are you sure about that state?  I could be wrong but I thought the Mississippi River was about 300 miles from Kansas.

It was the Missouri river and there is a mueum surrounding the excavated riverboat now. Very interesting site. tozh
