If you're talking about the flood that wiped out Wickenburg when the Walnut Grove Dam failed, it occurred in 1890, NOT 1881.

AND the safe has already been found.  The authors of the treasure tales either stopped reading the papers or they deliberately did not report the facts or they were relating 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hand information without bothering to verify the facts.

Thanks and of course your correct about the date,my bad,the safe I'm referring to is the mining co safe ,I have not been able to get any details on it. If I'm correct and that is the one I believe we know the location of. We used  a "LRL" also "Accurate Locator" ground penetrating radar, very interesting pic  on the laptop. However even if it is I do not think we can legitimately keep any of it ,wouldn't "ARPA" apply?

I'm sure they would find a way to make it apply
By the way....in all of the issues of the Prescott and Phoenix papers I read for the period of from a week before the flood until 2 months after the flood, only one safe was reported missing......and that safe was reported found a week to 10 days later in a small article tucked inside  the Phoenix paper.   Could more than one safe have gone missing?  I suppose so, but if so, I find it remarkable that it wasn't noted in any of the major papers of the region, especially since the sheriffs of two counties were actively riding and searching the area and were providing updates to the papers.
