I live in Idaho. Does anyone know the laws on panning in the national forest?

National Forests and access to them are often at the discretion of the states so you should call the forest office and ask. I've hunted both gold and game on National Forests in the past but it's impossible to tell you if any specific one is open to you.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
