What I mean is that this rule or set of rules is more than 10 years old and is well known among the guys who regularly hunt public lands. It was no surprise to read it here again and certainly does not seem overly restrictive. It's a tool to stop real looters, not the casual detector user.

Thanks for the clarification. I was just trying to add to homefire's list as per his instructions, as, I didn't see the specific rule mentioned already. ( As far as stopping looters, they probably wouldn't turn in the good stuff anyways. But, I, not wanting to be a "thief", will refrain from going to their areas, because, I want to keep my finds, lol. Just like the Texas spanish galleons, where they won't give you a penny for all the hard work, locating and recovering the booty, this doesn't seem fair to "me".)

Flower, I really don't see anyone here as being a looter or thief. If that is the way they think, they just don't sign up here. We've had a few queries about hunting in graveyards and when they were told it was unethical, they stopped discussing it after seeing the point. Otherwise, we are mostly law abiding folks here. Don't take my comment personally because it wasn't meant to be that way. I just noted that this was not news but old information.
On the other hand, I see no real point to trying to assemble laws here or anywhere under a forum heading that cannot change. The laws change constantly and something posted here a year ago is probably no longer correct. The best way to make a posting is to merely past a link, like you did, without a synopsis since that may not be accurate in a short while.
Also, laws can be changed by one person. I know for a fact that a flea I placed in the ear of my Congressman once a long time ago led to a nationwide change in library funding by the US Government. I actually penned some of the law as it was presented to Congress. Heady stuff, that. Knowing that I helped to enact laws that benefit all of us is invigorating, to say the least. Anyone can do the same thing if you find support in the right places.
