Homes Christian wants it to stop and wants us to lay back a little on this thread> As long as its open members will be taking shots at other members and mods who are respecting Christians wish and not responding. We can open it back up later after heads have cooled down.

I opened the thread back up after some thinking about it. Your right Homes folks do need to see this and they need to understand that me you GD and the other mods are members first so we have a right to post our opinion. To many folks think just because we are mods we have a bulls eye on our back to take pot shots at if we don't agree with them.

Lets keep the debate on subject and not turn it into a government bashing political thread if it heads that way folks will only get one warning this stuff has to stop.

Sorry to hear of these charges Cowboy.

I agree and go along with what your saying and with the other guys replies and what they have mentioned, but you'll never get anywhere citing the penal or criminal law statues in a courtroom to the magistrate or judge.

The better approach is to cite any laws and statute rules that approve of what you were doing and the rights to do so, if there are any in your jurisdiction. The EPA and other organizations are always fixed to fight against the professional salvers and hobbyist & have the money and government on there side 99% of the time which can be understood since they seek to promote healthy upkeep of the natural environment, so care needs to be taken when & where we employ our hobby and by what means we employ it, with consideration of any negative factors that might come from our endeavors.

No problem, Jim. When the full story comes out after everything is resolved, we can do a postmortem on the events. Until then, we have only one upset guy's story. Park rangers have always been some of the most easy going and understanding peace officers I have run across but if you give them a heap of trouble, they react. I believe that's what happened here. Like I say, time will tell.

I hope Randy makes out okay.

This one looks like it's open & shut for the state/govt, but hey I understand and probably have done the same thing as Randy in different ways while bottle digging on a small creek inlet on our property that juts in from the river & then again empties back into the river.

You have some good solid points Randy, and hey were pulling for you. But when we get cited or ticketed for a violation while employing our hobby, we usually loose the battle against City hall which as the old saying goes, is 99% of the time true!
