Both gold and silver can easily be melted down and somebody will buy it depending on amt of product and amt of greed on your part.The law of supply and demand vs how fast you want get rid of it

Sounds like you will always be taking a hit on the resell price no matter what. i guess slow and easy is the only way.

You could make you and your family all some gold teethsasis. I would just bury half of it and report the rest as I found it in my ownbackyard.

I really dont mined paying taxes on it. I believe most finds from treasure hunting are small amounts, but as in your States (US) most of them will no even allow you to keep your finding.
In Canada there storys of going all the way to Mexico( with gold) for exchanging. How-I dont know. Wise
