The term king of the beasts is a based on a romantic western english speaking notion, In German East Africa in 1916 the belief was somewhat based on the fact lions would never try to attack a mature African Bull elephant. Hence thier representation on their minted coins as King of the beasts.
As for the treasure story being a fairytale? Your more than welcome as anyone else to have your opinions on the matter as we are discussing a topic posted in treasure legends are we not? As I have stated in many posts on the topic of Treasure legends before, Some treasure legends will turn out to be nothing more than a legend, Others will always be a mystery and others will have a grain of truth behind the legend.

Not being new to treasure hunting, or even writing a few stories myself, I guess I am seeing some as just being too "neat" to be possibly real or even possible. I don't doubt things in this story occurred, but drawing the line from A to Z so easily without someone either having found the "treasure" or that deathbed secret coming out just make the story shy of a "treasure story".

iam tanzanian,the story is true.in many places in Tanzania there a lot of sign and symbols,mostly believed done by germans.not only tabora but also tukuyu,ulanga,morogoro,mbeya,chunya,ruvuma,etc this time i will try to post some picture taken in field.im working on the omega
there were renovation of area commissiner boma.during renovation some of the old german gun were extracted from the wall.funny enough the guns were well preserved and look brand new
in tanzania there more to discoved

Hello All
There is another interesting point to consider. Both versions of the coins type A "Africa" and Type T "Tabora" have appeared on the market which might say it all? However they have never appeared in great numbers. Another factor to consider there has been a few poor quailty countefiet coins appearing on the market which complicates the issue.
I too will be interested in seeing what Obby posts.

Hello All
Here is some pictures dating back to the conflict. The 3rd soldier on the left was the alleged source of the treasure story. His son was in the Merchant navy in WW2 and served later on a uboat. He survived the war having lost his first wife to allied bombing, remarried having a young son from his first marrage, immigrated to Australia in 1950. His second wife left him in the early seventies leaving him to raise the family. He realted the story as told to him by his father. His version was as the coins was made on the railway carriage east of Tabora. They were caught in a pincer movement between the British in the East, Belgium and British to the northwest. And Portuguese to the south. As they moved west to Tabora the German Overseers realised that the Belgian force was about to be overrun Tabora. Not having sufficient capabilities to transport the coins they chose to hide the treasure near an existing residence of a well known German who lived in the colony for nearly 40 years.
In a PM with a Thunting member claimed he has recovered some coins from Tabora? I hope he comes forward and posts a few pictures?
Has the coins already been discovered or is there a cache still to find?
Our members in Tanzania may one day have the answer to that?
