He is not talking Templar's he is claiming to have found a Confederated treasury site.
Quote:Posted by BitburgAggie_7377I'm not even prepared to say that NO Templar ever set foot in the New World.  BUT I don't believe 75-90% of the stories tied to the Templars and the Masons just like I don't believe 75-90% of the KGC, pirate, or Wild Bunch tales.

I agree a 100% the conspiracy nut have confused things for so many years with their Mason bull

OK, so he believes he found one but it's some other treasure. Nobody is arguing that the source material may be foggy or blatantly wrong. There may actually be a treasure there. I got a PM from him. He's not asking for anything at all. Just wants it found so he can feel validated. He's looking for people he can trust.

I am not saying that there is no treasure Hell I hope there is I am just saying its not part of the Confederate treasury. If I was heading that way anytime soon I would want to check it out myself.

Well, since I'm still punching a time clock, if the treasure to be isn't in Arizona or western New Mexico, it's probably outside my range.  Otherwise I might be game to at least be part of the recovery team.  I could use a little adventure with a decent chance at pay-off. But your right to be really cautious when it comes to putting together the team.  Better to let the secret die with you than fall in with some ne'er do wells (although even then you'd get the satisfaction of being known to have been right.

That seems to be a sticking point which we should put aside right now to discuss this. The Confederates had a little money and gold at the end of the war. They broke it into smaller amounts and distributed it for safety. All have either been accounted for as stolen by their protectors or captured by the Union Army except for around $20,000. That amount has an unknown fate and my be buried somewhere. Those are historical facts that I have researched.

Can we move on from there? And while I'm at it, I'll remind everyone that this forum is set up to be viewable by anyone who can use Google. Christian wants to attract people to this site and we all knwo what discussions about treasure can do to that end.

We are talking treasure GD get the chip off your shoulder.  Now the confederates had about 30 grand unaccounted for 17 grand was recovered in the Florida panhandle a few years back and the odds are the balance is somewhere on the east coast. Yes it could be confederated money from a robbery or lost payroll but not part of the CSA treasury

No chip on my shoulder. I'm just concerned that if we have too open a discussion here that the wrong people might see it. That's all.

Probably because you're living in a country that is:
a) even younger than the United States
b) as far as we know did not have a pre-colonial civilization that smelted metal, at least not to the extent found in the Americas (I exclude the mother continent and Asia since all the evidence indicates that both were more advanced than Europe and its derivative civilizations at various times).

On the other hand, you've had a lot less competition for a lot fewer years for highly sought after resources like gold and natural gemstones, so the odds of finding either of those is greater where you're at.   Some people would consider that  good trade-off.
