Hello all,

Be able to decipher an engraved stone, tell difference between an indication and a mark or companions signature

You will think companions; marks below different mainly from stony suits, which are not landmarks or indications of masks of treasures..

Marks generally used in the past in Europe.

Companions mark is a geometric sign (or even a letter or one monogram) engraved in the stone of size by a stony suit. In the past, every stony suit had its mark which acted for it as signature so as to accept its wage at the end of working week, according to the number of sharpened stones, stony suits being paid for task.

Hi Luc,  I can easily understand how someone might think they are treasure related. Good informative post. Thanks. Sue

Hello Luc

You continue to amaze me with your interesting research! Thank you for the post it has been very educational in understanding marks on stones in ancient buildings. There are many researchers out there that should take note of this when they misinterpret these type of symbols.

Hello Hardluck,

Thank you for the interest which you take in my posts,

I wanted to show that very often it is necessary to be sure of the interpretation which it is possible to make on marks left on stones, they are not very there to leave us an information on the burying of a store of treasure.
All the best

Luc

Wow, Luc, you've really compiled an assortment of marks from different buildings. Interesting to look at all the variety. They could easily lead someone astray. Thanks for sharing. I've enjoyed this post. Sue

Nice post! This kind of data could save someone a lot of time that they might waste looking for something not there.

Thanks you Sue and Idaho Jones

I just bring a small answer to "MikeK".
Those are really, different marks of stony suit which are found in Europe. You say that those are simply marks yes, but I tried to regroup these different marks in this post to make job easier on possible researches.

I am not the author of these marks, I try to bring my unassuming knowledge to all those whom it can interest.

Free to you "MikeK" to expand those informations.

Amicably
Luke
