No one is judging any one here.     Your Questions are more then Novice  in nature.

Most people that would undertake a adventure like this would know what was required.

Traipsing out in the Desert is NOT a game.

Even recurring routine trips need attention and plans.

Man nobody is judging you. You are asking questions that  even the newest of the newbies want ask. Plus we are not going to help you commit suicide which is what will happen because you and your friend are not prepared. You seem to think you can just take your Google map and walk right to the mine. You have no original  info you  have no clue what just a few hours in them hill can do to a man. I know people who have spend 40 plus years in them hills if it was that easy the mine has been found and worked out years ago.

Hey i'm not expecting to walk in and find it. You said you know people who have spent lots of time their, those people had to start somewhere. If you have any suggestion of practice, preperation, or otherwise. I'm listening. We have ideas as to where the mine may be, we want to try our theories. The hike may be difficult for beginners, but we have plenty of time to prepare. Thats kind of the point of us asking what we should have and eventually what we should do.

Do?      First you need to find it then figure out the next move.

Bring a Lupe, Sample bags, WATER,WATER,WATER and more then a few pairs of socks.    How far are you going to be walking?

Like i said we're still in the midst of planning the exact route. What do you think is reasonable walking distance for a day?

Current temps are in the 70's.    In a month it could be over 100.     Jun July it could 125 during the day.

How far do you think you can walk in 125  Temps?
