I'm all for digging up a new story BA I love em all. Always learn a few things every time we do this
Without groundwork to prove or disprove this one nothing is going to come to light, and there is little evidence to support a ground search unless you want to see the canyon. (which could be enough excuse for some) The author is unknown, the context is unknown, and the actors are unknown. It's been taken twisted and grown into some monster of sinister proportions. In my mind everything written after 1909 is suspect to agendas.
I'm not really actively looking for new clues just bringing back some from past research. It's like looking for Atlantis, you keep your ears and eyes open but not really expecting much.
Seldom what does the quote pertain to? It's interesting but I'm not sure what stones are being referred to? Something brought up by one of the recent expeditions? Sounds like someone is trying to enhance the myth.
I think everyone is missing one point here, in that we only have one interpretation of the origion of supposed artifacts and people of this story. As we all know wild exaggeration could have come into play. Just sayin. Look at the oldest accounts for more collaboration. And yes I know a lot of peoples lived in the canyon over the centuries. My emphasis was that even the local tribes weren't sure who was there before. While the Kincaid expedition may be purely fiction, the Powell one was not. Also there was an expedition by a man named Ashley that may prove interesting if anyone wants to dig.
I also don't think anyone here in this thread thinks we have found a reptillian base for world domination. The only people who trot that out are trying to sell books or trying to discredit someone. What I find disturbing is that when someone mentions aliens and such people just shut off and don't look any further. Perhaps it wasnt all the story claimed but there still could have been some fascinating ruins of an ancient people. Usually the truth comes up somewhere in the middle....
The Powell expedition was very interesting simply because he describes when and where he found ruins and artifacts, not to mention the sheer adventure of it. I think that's what grabs me about this tale is the adventure of traveling this canyon back in the wild times...
onward and upward....
