Hi All,

This topic makes for some fantastic reading, and the thought process, deductions as it has developed is a joy to watch.

I doubt it will be of any use, but does this whole connection between Casablanca to Jo`Burg have anything to do with perhaps more than one of a number of gold shipments?

Random long shot here....World Leaders meeting at Casablanca Conference

2 months after Anglo-American landing in French North Africa. Nov 1942

since President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill were discussing some hefty issues.

perhaps this may be a route into explaining why mysteriously data is being blocked or strangely not being there to researchers on the internet?

just a thought

Hello Wuzneme

Interesting suggestion but I doubt the gold came from Morocco or connected to events in 1946? There was limited mining still going on in Liberia during the war. This gold production was perhaps being sent to South Africa to be processed.

If I was to speculate where she went down I would say in the jungle mountainous region east of cape Vidal a victim of massive downdraft from memory.

I tried several times to get acess to the archives in Monrovia. But they were badly damaged in recent civil war.

The problem with this treasure legend that the area is just too big to search to be practical.

Hardluck

Hi All,

sorry, perhaps i should explain a little better at what i was trying to imply.

Having read from start to finish on this topic, and all the hard work gone into it, one member made a comment about looking away from the main focus of gold, flight path, and crew members.

Perhaps there is a bigger picture here, and this is merely scratching the surface of the topic. Also as Sue had visioned, perhaps an interesting untold war story is at play.

Others have mentioned about data online having been there, then not, which suggests somewhere this flight and its un recorded cargo has been flagged.

Or is the gold not the real issue here, sure the men onboard is known, but, what was the mission, or what was the plane also carrying? Official classified Red tape confidential Information, which may put goverments in jepordy if ever found, or was one of the men part of some high level team.

Which is why i suggested what had happened previous in the years prior. Was / is there anything that can be gained from reading up on that angle.

Perhaps the gold was being transported since taken from a ship, it is a mystery, but the thought of higher powers that be and clandestine meetings/ operations seem at play to me, on a par with another members thoughts of murder mystery.

I hope i am not sounding like a conspiracy theorist here. But given the suggestions of denied access to information in various forms online, and via contacts, it does appear to be heading that way.

Admittedly this does not help find the plane, but merely a suggestion to look outwith the main sources, in order to get answers.

just a thought

We made the February 2013 issue of Lost Treasure magazine (pages 36-38) "In hopes of solving this mystery, a posse of Internet sleuths has been posting their combined efforts on the fourum of a popular treasure hunting website...."
The author, Eric P. Mitchell, included a few things that are worth considering--especially if someone wants to take the research beyond where we "petered out", and especially if they want to do some boots on the ground type searching.

Congratulations people!  I hadn't read that issue of Lost Treasure yet, but I picked it up and looked.  There it is!  Very cool!     Wise

The actual crash date is Dec. 09, 1945. My father, Captain John McManus Weaver USAAF Base Unit #1250 , French Morocco, posted in the finance Corps, was on board. Several natives later reported seeing a bright light falling into the sea at the approximate time of the flight. Search by Allied forces went on for several years, until this report was made. The casualty division of the Army made a report on this event in 2022.
