Checking to see if the US, testing newer technology at a later date, might have found the plane, I looked for graves. Their names popped up and I thought 'huh' but I guess they are just listed on a memorial wall of missing in an American cemetery in Tunisia. Documentary fodder.

You guys are writing and discussing stuff that is already known  . Where-else would you get the information . There is nothing important to write untill the moment the plane disappeared . What happened after that is an enigma .  The people that searched for the plane may have something to tell you . Not much though because they did not find the wreck .  As I mentioned before  you have to check the metheorological information of that time . Than check with a pilot and ask him what he would do under the circumstanses . This is just the way a researcher would go to work .  Regards   Cornelius

I agree with Cornelius in part. This research you have done so far is information already known and connected to the missing plane. You've all been patting yourselves on the back for simply putting it in one place. Nothing new has been learned. What you need are seemingly unrelated pieces of information from the days in question. Look for these kinds of seemingly unrelated things.

The report of a plume of smoke by a band of hunters in the jungle.
Reports of airplane pieces being used to build crude shelters.
Reports of an oil or petroleum product slick on the ocean beaches.
Reports of injured American soldiers dying in remote places.

Look for them in the most obscure places or wait to happen upon them by chance. There have been hundreds of recoveries made from personal diary or journal entries that seem unrelated to treasure in any way yet become real world recoveries. One of my own personal primary sources for treasure research is the personal libraries of people who have recently been offered for auction. The daily journals and diaries of ordinary people offer the most glaring clues to those who know what to look for. Watch for them now on eBay but in the past, Butterworth's, Sotheby's and other private auction houses that deal in paper items held the best collections. In Australia, one of the finest collections from a variety of sources is on sale is at Robert Muir Books in Perth.

Searching for meteorological information is just a game of conjecture in my opinion. It's unknown whether this particular pilot would be prone to head into a storm or avoid it. Not having the tools we have today, most would choose to go over it or turn back if fuel allowed. It's fun stuff to look at but less than proof because it's completely guesswork.

You are so right GD . I'd say look for the unknown  and not for the known . That is if you want to find something that is lost .  The same goes for ship wrecks or lost treasure ( that can be confirmed to exist ) . Research is not easy . It sometimes takes years before you hit on a specific peace of information . But finally it is all worthwile .  Cornelius
