Smiley Great story ORO , you and HardLuck and others on this site certainly do your research and tell the stories in a informative and entertaining manner , those Superstitions Mtns could surely tell some alluring tales . cheers Mick  Wink

Hola amigos!

Loke I thought that a part of the story of the lost Pick might be of interest to you.  Sort of a "coincidence" you might say?  We will definitely have to do more looking around this fall.  Great

Mick <Au Fever> - I can't take the credit for the story, it is one of John D. Mitchell's, there are other versions of it (aren't there always when it comes to any lost treasure or mine?) you can find in old treasure magazines and a couple newpaper articles, no major differences but one does say that the two partners had built a small cabin for themselves.  Mitchell does not mention it and since no one has found the mine or cache of gold amalgam we can not know for sure.  Anyway thank you for the kind words even if un-deserved!   Waveing

Hola amigos,
I see that this thread has gone quiet for a while, if others are not interested I will stop posting into it; I only wanted to point out that the location of this lost mine is not within what we call the Superstition mountain range today, it would be the Sierra Ancha range.  However at the time it was located, a much larger region was considered, and called the Superstitions, or Salt River mountains, or Montana del Espuma (mountains of foam, a reference to the whitish layer of limestone visible along much of the Supers, related to the Pima legend of a great flood.).  The terrain is not so rough as the 'heart' of the Superstitions but still plenty rugged however, and some timber and thick brush help keep this lost mine lost.

Good luck and good hunting amigos, I hope you find the treasures that you seek.
Oroblanco
