An old rhyme runs.                                                                                                                                                             Near the Cell there is a well                                                                                                                                                 Near the well there is a tree                                                                                                                                                And neath that tree the treasure be. The manor house at Markyate near Dunstable stands on the site of the twelth-century priory of St. Trinity in the Wood. The rhyme is said to refer to the hidden priory treasures. Now if this is true or not i dont know not reserched it yet but thought you may be interested. Amen

Hello Malc

As strange as this seems. Some times old rhymes can have a grain of truth?

In Ireland two Irishman discovered treasure in 1680 by connecting an old rhyme with an actual location.

In earth beside a loud cascade,
The son of Sora's king we laid,
And on each finger placed a ring
of gold by mandate of the king.

They understood the waterfall to be the waterfall at Shannon's leap at Ballyshannon and discovered two gold plates now kept at the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford. The gold plates were dated from the 8th and 9th centuries.

Hello Malc

I had a friend in Devon who many years ago was lowered into a well in a diving suit. At the bottom of the well he found what he believed to be a medieval vase and 2 medieval ink pots.

They are still in his study today.

Hardluck.  Wink
