Hello All
Here is a treasure legend from the east coast of Scotland.
In 1588 Colonel Sempill, King Phillip of Spain's secret agent in Scotland met a small vessel off the coast off the mouth of the Forth and obtained secret invasion funds to help bribe the local chieftains to ease the Spanish Invasion. However fate stepped in with storms and the Spanish Amanda was scattered around the coasts of Britain and the invasion failed.
Six years after the Spanish Armada Robert Logan of Restalrig developed an obsessive interest in buried treasure. Logan was a brigand and wealthy land owner. How he came across this information was allegedly from the capture of shipwrecked Spanish sailors. One of his estates he owned was Fast Castle.
There is a document still in the hands of the descendant of John Napier, Brigadier Charles Napier of the United States Army, pertaining to a contract of magic between John Napier and Robert Logan to find treasure believed to have been found at Fast Castle.
John Napier lived in a tower south of Edinburgh called by locals astrologers Tower. Napier became famous by being the discover of logarithms. Napier's also had a reputation as a sorcerer led him into dubious association with the thuggish Robert Logan of Restalrig, who had been involved in the Gowrie Conspiracy to abduct the King and imprison him at Fastcastle.
Logan's private fortress on the East Coast, where his family were in the habit of committing robbery with violence on any passer-by. For this Logan had been declared an outlaw, yet inexplicably Napier agreed to help him search for buried treasure at Fast castle. Luckily none were ever found, since Logan would rather have committed murder than hand over Napier's share.
It seems fairly certain that they failed and had a falling out in their search for treasure. In 1596 in letting out Land to a Tenant, stipulates in the terms of agreement, under no circumstances may the tenant ever sublet to anyone by the name of Logan.
To this day the question has hangs over the fast castle ruins or in one of the numerous sea caves around the castle, is there hidden treasure of Spanish Armada invasion funds?
There is no site that could fire the imagination like the battered old ruins of Fast castle hanging on the cliff edges with deep dark caves around the coast. Fast castle keeps her secrets well.
