Spanish Treasure in Cass County

On October 24, 1879 an article in the Cass County Times-Courier described the location of a hidden Spanish treasure near Harrisonville.
"Before being massacred by attacking Indians in 1772, several hundred Spaniards buried 15 loads of gold averaging 130 pounds each and 1,000 bars of silver weighing an average of 20 pounds to the bar... in the area four or five miles west and one or one and one-half miles north of Harrisonville. The silver was buried within one-fourth of a mile of where the present day Rodman School is standing; the gold is three fourths of a mile farther northwest.?
More than fifty years later, a construction crew was building a bridge in 1930. The location was several miles southeast of the old Rodman School. During the excavation, the crew found evidence of a battle between the Spanish and the Indians, locating old weapons, skeletons, and part of old armor.
Harrisonville has dramatically grown in the last several years, so locating the exact location of the old Rodman School will, no doubt, require some sleuthing skills.
The Spanish were meticulous record keepers when it came their possessions in the New World. This includes not only land, but mines, and silver and gold coins and bullion. A bit of organized research into Spanish records of the day would undoubtedly tell you whether this column actually ever existed. A treasure trove and shipment as large as this one would not have been taken lightly by Spanish authorities and would have been carefully recorded and documented.
It's a judgment call of sorts, but there may be a vast treasure trove buried in Cass County, Missouri. Only good research will reveal the truth. Are you ready to find it?

It must be remembered that in less than three years, the Spanish succeeded, with various expeditions to conquer the Aztecs and effective control over most of Mexico.
the extermination of the natives, even more than the sword and guns contributed diseases from Europe such as smallpox and tuberculosis.
With human lives (in 1519, with the arrival of Cortes, the natives were 25 million and 17 million in 1532 and only 2,000,000 in 1580) even the pre-Columbian culture of the people was obliterated, opening the territory of New Spain, the appointment of Cortes as governor.
Began and 300 years of Spanish rule during which were built directly from hundreds of cities on the Spanish style, with a plaza surrounded by a network of streets, thousands of churches, often in places sacred to the Indios to the summit of pyramids (in Mexico until 1800 there were 12,000) and which followed the arrival in 1524, the first Franciscan monks to convert the Catholic population.
The Church, which had initially defended the rights of indigenous often reduced to virtual slaves and used to build new cities, then less and less interested in preserving their culture and upbringing of their children , preferring the money and the wealth of the country.
In the seventeenth century the Church had half of Mexican territory, but also developed ranches, vast properties of a small class of wealthy Spanish owners.
Mexico thus became one of the richest Spanish colonies, and this lasted until the early nineteenth century, when began the decline of Spain as a world power.
In 1767, Charles III expelled the Jesuits from Mexico, became too powerful, causing resentment among the lower clergy and faithful.
In 1804 the Crown confiscated the goods of the Church. But it was the invasion of Spain from France that the spark provocative because the colonies in Latin America refused to recognize the regime of Napoleon Bonaparte.
And it was at this time that the first leaders of the Independence movement emerged: Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a priest Creole, and Ignacio Allende, a dissident army officer.

Rodman school is located in Peculiar, Mo. a little NW of Harrisville. I can't find any reference to a new school so it may be the one from the story.
Now the question is did the battle take place near there?
