If Burrows said that the Mau Mau were in South Africa and the press did not clamp on him then we have a problem.

Good stuff Homes. I haven't finished reading it all but so far it looks quite interesting. At least it's a counterpoint to try and verify to prove or disprove the previous docs.

Wonder if there is any truth to the similarities in the mound artifacts? Could the cuniform tablets be authentic perhaps? Or is this all more hocus pocus to substantiate the artifacts? BA some of the portraits do seem off to me too. Just odd.

What are the odds of finding out if Orville Lowry really registered a site like that? Or if he existed at all....

I just realized that was all written by burrows wasn't it....

None of the "Burrows Artifacts" look like anything I've ever seen associated with Mounds cultures in any of the books or exhibits I've seen by "reliable" sources in 45 years of reading and looking.

Here is an 1892 resource on them as a starting point

(1892) The Mound Builders: Their Works and Relics (Lost Civilizations)

There are a lot of items in the mounds culture that can be used to support cross cultural ties with the Anasazi and even the peoples of central Mexico, but the tie to Burrows looks more like someone trying to manufacture a link between classical African/Middle Eastern civilizations and the Mounds people where none existed.   Which is NOT the same as saying Burrows was behind a hoax.  He could have been an innocent dupe of someone else with a racist axe to grind.

Thanks BA, I will read up. I must confess I've never studied any of the mound cultures artifacts closely so this will be interesting.

I don't see anything that remotely connects Burrows artifact to the mounds cultures, if anything I can see some Olmec art in them.

Actually that's part of the connection.   Many people used the "negroid" (a term that I am using following accepted anthropological practice and NOT for a derogatory purpose) features of some of the Mounds artifacts as well as the famous "elephant" effigies to point to an African/Egyptian/Phoenician origin for the Mounds culture just as they use the "negroid" features of the Olmec heads to argue for an African origin for Olmec civilization.

One of the mound builder cultures was the Adena.

Also take a look at Hopewell artifacts.  The Hopewell followed the Adena in the same area.   Also keep in mind that Burrows cave is in the region associated with the Mound Builders.   Link the Mound Builders and every other advanced native American tribe to the classic civilizations of the Old World and you reinforce the racists views held of native Americans by others.

I have never been one to argue that the African/Egyptian/Phoenician never visited the Americas I am sure they plus the Vikings and others came here long before Columbus. I only question how much influence a small group can have on a whole civilization.

I'm with you on that one.  Unfortunately there have always been and probably will always be people (individually and collectively) who believe the best way to feel good about themselves or their group is to tear down the achievements of another group.   The opposite side of the same coin is that some folks feel so bad about being human that they figure the only way we could possibly have separated ourselves from the rest of earth's creatures is if a group of highly advanced aliens gave us a big push.

Erich von Däniken cultist LOL I read everything he ever wrote and admit he had some interesting ideals but like Churchward he took it to far they seemed to think the bigger the lie the easier to believe. Like we tell the yammy hunter sometimes a rock is just a rock
