Super, super super Sue.. Clapp Clapp

I discovered another facet of history and especially those of some men loyal to their leader Napoleon. Really you have filled a misunderstanding I had about this episode on the projects of the military campaign against Mexico.

Thank you again.

Yours sincerely Wink

Hello All

I hope you all of had a good Christmas!

Here is some early 20 century newspaper reports perhaps associated the Lafitte brothers?

There are two newspaper reports from Pensacola on 25th August 1913 reporting that a contractor discovered an Iron chest with Doubloons?

Interestingly there is another report on the 19th November 1921 claiming another find of two pots of gold coins were found.

Are they related to Lafitte brothers or associates from those times?

It is hard to tell but it seems the history, stories and legends of that era gives enough circumstantial evidence to suggest that there are many small caches of treasure buried along the entire gulf coast.

Awaiting some lucky finder to stumble upon.

Hardluck  Wink

Hello all

The gulf of Mexico has an amazing history of pirates, gunrunners, filibusters, slave traders and privateers. An intriguing and interesting part of world to search for treasure

Even if not all buried treasure along the gulf coast don't belong to Jean Lafitte, I still be researching and exploring possible sites if I was in that part of the world.

Thanks once again Luc for the interesting post.

Hardluck  Smiley

Jean Lafitte was the first pirate I ever saw on Saturday matinee Smiley I can still remember him saying as his men rowed away from burning Galveston "We will start again!" I'd swear he was played by Errol Flynn but I'm probably confusing it with Captain Blood. I never quite escaped the early impression that the pirates were the good guys, even after I learned the truth Smiley Anyway I digress...

The below pdfs are one of the many older articles I've found as I open Lafitte's story again. I found them interesting hopefully you will too.
