 Hi All

I came across this today while reading a book about Spain.

Outside of Barcelona is '' Monserrat'', which translates to " Jaggard mountain"
its a dramatic landscape, very impressive. Upon the slopes can be found the Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria de Monserrat, Which some belive is the resting place of the Holy Grail.  Cool

Hello Goldnboy

Thank you for the interesting post. There has been many places claimed where the alleged Holy Grail was kept.

But perhaps we have to look at in another way and ask ourselves does the grail exist at all?

  Hello Hardluck

Yes good question. Also we should ask what is the holy grail !? Funny thing I was just watching the movie the De Vinchi code. I think the Book Holy Blood Holy Grail could be a better option.

  Cool

Hello Goldnboy

In historical sources there is no mention of the grail before the 12 century which suggests the whole legend is christian story weaved around on earlier Celtic legends. Strange enough the region you mention churches do depict icon like Grail images around the 12th century.

The De Vinci code was written to entertain the mass's where Holy Blood Holy Grail was written to educate the mass's.

Before we can discuss the grail we need to decide what the Grail is.

As for where it is (if its real) it's been connect to Oak Island, all over Europe, and some years ago there was reports it was in Utah.

The Holy Grail is a sacred object figuring in literature and certain Christian traditions, most often identified with the dish, plate, or cup used by Jesus at the Last Supper and said to possess miraculous powers. The connection of Joseph of Arimathea with the Grail legend dates from Robert de Boron's Joseph d'Arimathie (late 12th century) in which Joseph receives the Grail from an apparition of Jesus and sends it with his followers to Great Britain; building upon this theme, later writers recounted how Joseph used the Grail to catch Christ's blood while interring him and that in Britain he founded a line of guardians to keep it safe. The quest for the Holy Grail makes up an important segment of the Arthurian cycle, appearing first in works by Chr?tien de Troyes. The legend may combine Christian lore with a Celtic myth of a cauldron endowed with special powers.

The Grail legend's development has been traced in detail by cultural historians: It is a legend which first came together in the form of written romances, deriving perhaps from some pre-Christian folklore hints, in the later 12th and early 13th centuries. The early Grail romances centered on Percival and were woven into the more general Arthurian fabric. Some of the Grail legend is interwoven with legends of the Holy Chalice.

Well, since I don't meet the criteria the legends say are needed to find let alone recover the grail, that's one treasure I won't be persuing.

The problem with the search for the Holy Grail is that there can only be just one. Reported to be in so many places that checking them all is impractical. If it exists, it will continue to have legends that grow from it.
