Hello everyone

Here is a treasure story from Burma.

The Country of Rubies, Sapphires and Diamonds!

Two British Soldiers during the Burma War in the 19th century plundered the Crown Regalia of king Thinbaw, during the capture and sacking of Manderlay.

In fear of being detected by their commanding officer they buried the treasure in the grounds of the royal palace. Both were eventually returned to England unable to recover any of the treasure.

One of the soldiers years later confessed to the theft on his death bed, leading authorities to the other soldier who agreed to go back to Burma to recover the treasure. The treasure was allegedly buried in a place where a sentry box installed.

Was there any truth to the story? It appears the Colonial British India Office was very interested in the story, as reported in the Brisbane Courier Newspaper of 15th of may 1894. It is alleged that the old soldier returned to Burma but no results were reported. The Value of the treasure to day would be in the millions and perhaps even priceless.

But alas! until the present regime in Burma changes and if the treasure is still well and truly buried there?

Then perhaps Salvor 6 and I will become pirates and decide to invade Burma on a Filibustering expedition!

Hardluck Grin

A nice interesting story if it was recovered it would of been hushed up and classed as an official secret hence no official information would be available.  Who know it could be still there waiting to be recovered or it was secreted out of the country, or maybe just another rumour to keep anyone interested  Shocked
