Hello All

I have not been around for a while so I thought to post a few yarns or so.

There are many treasures lost to history due to urban developments in the 2oth century. One such story is a story of a lost family silver place buried in a lake of a country house in the UK. Crowder house was the ancestral home of the Wilkinson family for over 300 years. Around the 1850’s the squire Wilkinson had four daughters and when traveling away frequently with the habit of hiding the family silver in the lake.
Whatever happened to him on one of the trips that the family was unable to pay the rent for the property by 1855 and they were objected from the property is a bit of a mystery?

One of the four daughters secretly eloped and a descendant of remaining later recalls the story of family treasure buried in the lake of the grounds of the property and the story of secret love letters hidden in a desk of one of the daughters. Was there any truth to the family legend?
A deeper investigation into the legend might reveal truth to the legend?

Crowder house was demolished in around 1935 and house estate and street called Crowder road built over the old house site. And much of the land was taken over by Lonley hall estate which in time became a park for the housing estate.
During the 2nd world war the park was farmed to grow food and reverting back to a public park after the war. There is a possible chance for a diligent researcher to search old maps of era to identify the location of the lake which may be filled in a section of the park. Deeper research into the events that led to the family being kicked out of the property may help unravel the treasure legend.

Today one can walk around the park via three entrances which provide some much needed green space for the surrounding suburbs. One can only wonder if there is a small fortune in silver buried in the Park?
