""Rock Pens"", are made from people piling big rock on top of each other like making a large wall, for hide from whom ever is shooting at them. There always good treasure around them some where, old coins, buttons, old buttons. I also like Magnet Fishing, and old well fishing.

For what it's worth:  My Grandfather who died in 1958 said he stumbled on the rock pens while chasing lost cattle, long ago.  He thought it was odd that the pens were so low they wouldn't hold any animal.  Sometime later he heard the story of the buried silver in those pens.  He tried to find his way back to them but never could find them again.  I'm not sure where they would be but at that time he lived east of Hwy 16 and south of the nueces just off what is called the San Diego road between Hwy 1962 and Hwy 624.  You could roam far and wide back then, so there's no telling where they are specifically.

Finding, not knowing what you found, and then not being able to find once you've been educated seems to be a pretty common theme of lost treasures.  Thanks for sharing the family perspective, especially since it helps narrow the possible search parameters for anyone actively looking for Rock Pens
