I found this story from the New York Times and after all the money and time invested in to Treasure Legend it seems that those in power have their own agenda, If those in power want it why the hell don't they go and look for it instead of bringing in new Laws so they can steal it from others,

From a logical point of view only, it looks like all concerned are wrong. The finders are the owners on the high seas. No difference just because it's in the water closer to land.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I agree, I have got to the point where I have decided that if I am lucky enough to find such things that I will take one of each Items tor take what I need when I needed it and bury the rest deeper and forget all about it , I invest money and years of my life that could of been spent on better things just to have some academic tell me that it is not mine and people like unesco and the likes to claim heritage etc, well if they are that concerned then why don't they go and look for it them selves, The fact is they see it as just an excuse to get involved in somebody else's life who they don't even know and Dictate to them whats going to happen, If someone did that to a person in the street then A person is within their rights to use maximum force but with these clowns we have to except it,

The Arkie's call us grave robbers and thieves etc,, Yet I have never dug up a Grave or stolen anything and yet the Arkie's get to Dictate to me what I can do, If something was buried 700 years ago and I found it there is little chance of me finding the owner and when I make a deal with the land owner that is set in stone I then follow it to the letter, and yet these unesco  crowd change the rules,

Why is that US lawyer shafting US Citizens, It's about time some one put him in his place because he is only Chiseling his own people to get money out of Foreigners and does not give a £$%# about the laws and the Agreements that have been put in Place,

LOL - I don't know about burying it but I sure would zip my lip about it and piece it out when I needed it.

Absolutely, I would not mind if like minded people were involved, But I would not tolerate being Dictated to by foreign countries what I can Do, This Is what the Americans fought the British for At Lexington and Concord In 1775 and this now takes the US back to 1774,

Despicable,  Wise Angry Angry

This just shows a Legal binding contract is worth diddly squat when Big treasure is the prize , Armada did all the hard work at their expense to search and locate the site and then Colombia get greedy and change the rules with a little help from big knob US lawyers , this really sucks the Big one ..cheers Mick

Hows this for a pack of BS the Colombian government are saying they found the san jose when in fact the salvage company found the area in 1981 and since 2011 there has been a legal battle going on, Surely if this is in international waters they have now claim on it ??

Yes, the Spanish were not very clever and ran out of names for their ships. There are many sunken Spanish vessels with the same name.
