TREASURE D' HERRADURA (COSTA RICA)

The affair of the treasure of the island Herradura is directly linked to that of the fabulous treasure of Lima, the most famous of all treasures that are said hidden from the Cocos island. This belief, universally recognised by the hunters of treasures of the whole world, is reappraised now since discovery at the beginning of the century of old documents, for a long time kept to be secret.

These relate that Thompson, the Captain of the brig pirate Mary Dear who stole this treasure from the Spanish in 1821 and hid him at first on the island Cokes, came back a while later to recover him and to bury him again on a more accessible island, closer to the dry land and, this time, in a place known by himself ?

An ancient plan of this island, made by Thompson's hand before its death to Guatemala: a cross points out the site of the hiding place there ?

THE TREASURE OF VIOLIN (COSTA RICA)

The treasure of the island Violin is mentioned in the old Indian legends of the tribe of Borucas. A Costa Rican, in former years war, would have discovered the hiding-place, but an ambush was tightened him and he was assassinated before having been able entirely to empty it. Nevertheless, several ancient assert having seen the eyes golden dishes or bars with which he had filled a big bag. Treasure would be in a tunnel the entrance of which would be located under the sea level Some inhabitants of Sierpe, the closest village, assert knowing nearly the place where is store. The whole is to succeed in making it speak, and for it, is needed the patience Of The hunters of German treasures, using big means, organised some years ago several operations of wingspan, but futile to this day.

THE TREASURE Of EL CA?O (COSTA RICA)

The treasure of the small island of El Ca?o is allocated to the famous English corsair Francis Drake, who unloosed there to streamline his boat during his trip around the world.

He would have disembarked there and would hide 30 tons of ingots of money to get lighter before following his journey. An old legend of the Indian Borucas mentions, there still, the existence of a very ancient treasure on this island.

Maybe Ostler Rhinehold was one of the germans going there, but I am not certain of it.

If somebody can give information to us, that he does not hesitate

Richard Ray:
I've hunted on Isla Violin many times and very near lost my life in one of the ocean caves. Cano Island, I've been all over it many times as well as dove the ocean all around it.  Drake sank the captured ship the CACAFUEGO on the east end of the island while at anchor. In the mid 1980', we found the anchor and chain, along with the ballast pile. And lots of evidence from a 1930's salvage that recoverd 17 of the estimated 50+ tons. We even located one of the salvaged cannons and the grandson of the salvor in the USA. All applications to Costa Rica for salvage was rejected. We brought in a well know international salvage company and meet with two of Costa Rica's presidents, to no avail.

You can read about several of my adventures in Costa Rica, Mexico and other countries as well as all over the USA, in back issues of any of the several magazines published by Jess Publishing ( Treasure, Treasure Search, Treasure Found and Treasure Diver. Other stories appeared in, Treasure World, Lost Treasure, Eastern & Western Treasures and several others. Of course remember that I wrote under several names. My last story was printed in 1992 about treasures in the Philipines.
