My mother -in law passed away and her house is being sold. She lost a ring somewhere in the yard AND her long time live-boyfriend hid valuables and cash at her house and many other places. We already found some money and a coin collection at her house and have run out of ideas where we should look next. We'd like to to metal detect the house and yard. Anybody in San Diego want to help? Any hints on where to look for hidden valuables?

Is there a room or somewhere you where never allowed to be in when you were young. Look in the yard for humps or depressions where it looks out of ordinary where there have been digging taking place. Just some ideas hope you have good luck, Jeremy in Wisconsin.

Was there a window in the room he slept inm that looked out onto a pert of the backyard?  If so might want to look at that area of the yard as well.

There is a window... I'll look out there. The last few years he spent a lot of time in a recliner, should I check areas outside that window as well?

Might not hurt.  Might even want to check the recliner as well if you haven't already.  The only reason why I asked about a window is that a lot of times people who would hide money in or around a property would often times in a situation such as hiding money or valuables outside of the house would hide them near the home but usually in an area of the yard that had a line of sight from a window of the house that way they could still somewhat keep an eye on the hidden money or other valuables.  This is not to say that it is always the case but gives another option to look into.

I would check around the bases of trees and in front of plants and behind them,  check around the backs of any buildings ie,
sheds, garages glass houses etc under waterbarrels, paving stones, Most people use plants or garden oniments as markers
and under bushes etc, I hope this helps, good luck,HH
