I talked to a friend of her boyfriend (who lived there for over 15 years) and he said the boyfriend hid a lot of jewelry in the master bath in a secret compartment. I looked EVERYWHERE I could without destroying anything (the house may be sold).

Take out the screws holding the medicine cabinet in place. Carefully remove it and watch for a string or chain going down inside the wall which may have a cache at the end of it in a container. Also, look inside the wall to see if anything is there. See if there is a plumbing access panel below the sink or behind the toilet bowl. If so, open it. See what you find.

I took out the med. cab. but didn't think to look for a string or chain. I'll look for that and  also look for a plumbing access panel too. THANKS! Pray

when you check the toilet tank......some lids are hollow so look inside if you can. There should or could be access panels under the sink and to get to the back of the shower or tub faucet (the other side of the wall  from the faucet) and could be access panels under any faucets. The chrome covers that go against the wall (over the pipes leading into the wall) just slide back and forth. Look for a string there or evidence that someone was sliding them back and forth. Loose baseboard trim, loose carpet where you can pull it back and see a panel in the floor. Old houses with built in cabinets can have a false back or side panel in any cabinet or drawer. Too bad I wasnt closer, I love searching houses. I had rental properties until about 5 years ago and found a few interesting stashes when I bought them. Being a stasher myself helps me to find others stashes!

Old chimneys often have a ledge on the inside above the fire place and are a good hiding place for a stash. If the house has one, look in side it. Also look for any loose bricks that can be pulled out ans that can often reveal hidey holes as well. Z.

Last night as I went to sleep, I was thinking of you. See? Isn't that just so special? Or maybe it's creepy. LoL

Ok, almost special. It was more about your problem of where a cache might be hidden. I woke up around 2:00am thinking of hiding places for you to check. Two possibilities came to mind during that state of sleep where I knew I should roll over and go back to the land of nod but my body was telling me to get up.

One is the fan, if there is one. Normally, they are held in place by spring clips that allow you to pull them down for cleaning. They fit inside of the ceiling rafters so when you pull it down, look deep inside the area in the ceiling for a box or jar.

The other thought I had was abandoned plumbing. Older houses sometimes have old valves and pipes left behind from ancient plumbing. If you have any of this kind of old, formerly used plumbing, check them out carefully as they might be a decoy for a stash.
