As a new member of this site I am trying to post here some of my questions and doubts that I have since a time ago.  Undecided

Please let know if magnetometers can be used to find gold. Due gold is not a magnetic metal, I believe that magnetometer can not be used to find gold.   No no! Please let me know if I am correct or wrong about my opinion.   Teach Detecting

Correct!

A Mag will not respond to Gold.

But a Mag will Respond to Iron Deposits and Gold often forms on the Boundaries of Iron formations.

Black sand Deposits some time Contain alluvial gold and a mag will respond to some black sands.

Depends on the Location, Location, Location!

Here in New Mexico all black sands are Magnetic Ferrous Based.

Other Rare Earths as well.
