Hi,
I have a plan from a (very) old "practical electronics" mag.
All analogue, no pics etc.
I can can it scanned if you like?

Thanks, I would like that.
I have had experience mixing digital and low level analogue
signals in devices, and it is often possible to get much better
performance by being analogue only.
So any circuit that works adds to the information about what is needed
and how I can arrange a circuit with the best performance.

Thanks for that.
I have not been able to locate the Scientific American article,
although this one has been favorably compared to it.
The enthusiasm to start the breadboard has not quite been
reached yet.
I build classic breadboards, a piece of pine with
several copper nails driven into it. Across the tops of the nails
thick tinned copper wire forms bus bars. The components are
just soldered to the bus and each other, usually in the same
layout as the circuit diagram. A couple of extra nails are input
output terminals.
The beauty of the system is that every single component can
be changed one at a time to optimize the circuit, and new
extensions just grow like Topsy. When it really flies I redraw
the circuit to the best layout and put it on a fiber glass card.
It always pays to take time and consider all the options before
a project like this is started.
Neville

I still have not found a copy of the Scientific American with the proton Magnetometer plans.
Has anyone got a spare copy?

In some issues of Silicon Chip magazine there is a full page ad in there for the Scientific American Science Projects CD and DVD. They have tons of projects from the magazine. See if you can find an index for them using Google.

This article might be of some help?
It was published in the October, 1970 issue of Practical Electronics:
