I wondered if anyone has tried the Proton from JW Fishers in person? I see it is being offered with different depth capabilities. Are any of the electronics but the sensor located in teh fish? Is it a Solenoid Sensor? Any oppinions and expirience are most welcome.

Regards,

Christian

Hello Christian, I have owned and used the JW Fisher Proton 3 for 4 years. In my opinion it is an excellent machine. It is extremely sensitive (0.5nt) and rugged. Here is a picture of the end of the towfish. I don't know if there is any electronics in the tail but there is a rotary switch to tune it. The towfish has a large coil filled with proton rich kerosene.
