That you can contact your states department of land management and get a book of satelite photos of most of the towns in your state?

A friend of mine got me one and its great, you can see all the ball fields, parks, horse tracks and more. The horse tracks are particularly important as you cant spot them from the ground but you can see them from the air even if there is a crop planted on it.

Cost may vary.

Raider.

Do you have a bague figure of the involved? What size are the pictures? This reminds of a story I have once been told by a German WWII veteran who served in France:

He went by an abondended small chateau in the Bretagne and found a bag full of items made of silver and gold. It were many plates and bowls.

He then buried the bag in the garden of the house.

Lot's of rsearch has been done in this story, using aerial shots of various chateaus located in this area. However no match could be found. The chateau where he had buried the bag may have been altered over the years or even been destroyed.

Again this shows that searching property that is attached to important or historical buildings may often reveal treasure.

Many relic hunters in the UK use Google earth for satelite photos..it helps them find older villages ect.

There are a series of maps that every TH'er should be throughly familiar with :
1. Topographic
2. Aerial
3. Satellite
4. Orthophotoquad
5. IR
I find that I couldn't find much, w/o a good supply of these maps, covering the areas that I am working!
If I am looking for a good cache, (pn'd...as, "Cash"! ) I'll have ALL! of them for that area..
Ortho & IRs are going to cost you a couple of bucks !!! ..   Tongue
But! The returns can make that cost, insignificant
They are as good as or maybe, better than flying over the area!
Which is something else, that a TH'er should also, consider/do!
