All I see is stones with natural marks on them. Why do you think they are signs?

Hello
Where these etchings in a ruin? You mentioned Macedonia - I am assuming you saw these symbols in Macedonia.
Pic 8, 9 look like arrows - had a look in symbol book and Arrows are said to be a military symbol - specifically military defence.
Chicken symbol - couldn't find anything about a chicken with an egg inside, but chickens symbolise self-sacrifice and a triangle is a symbol for truth.
Couldn't really make out the rest. If you know what they are i'll look them up.
Shannon

Example first five pictures there is a hammer and anvil. As i said this symbol is located behind a stone like a chair. About the chicken and triangle i have picture of that stone but somebody had demolished it, and about 30 metres away from the chicken heads direction i found some square stones about five or six placed one on one like a stairs but separated a bit. Also on the picture 8.9 there is a cross on the other side of stone made up from circles.... I have so much symbols located around my place. There are: Boot on stone original height, Heart with cros inside, Old gun, Horse head....... and many many others.

or web sites like this one but they are all in Turkish. Now, depending on your web browser you can probably translate them into Macedonian, I did this and translated this site into English and Bulgarian but it is kind of messed up. You can still read and make some sense but it is not 100% understandable. Good luck!

Hi.
Will check out generic meanings later todat, but your best bet would be to speak to an iconologist and symbologist. Symbols could also be mason's signatures.

Hello dino23

Thank you for your photographs. I think some are ancient markings others are natural marks. Some times it can be hard to distinguish. Some may be very ancient fertility symbols, some may be even later boundary markers or even markers left by pilgrims.

I think you need to understand in what context they are in. Do you know the local history of the area where you found them?

Symbols are one part understanding the history around it is another.

Mki Thank you for the link. These Symbols are interesting but I could not imagine some of them as Ottoman Turk or Macedonian in origin .

But perhaps of a culture much older Pan Slavic origin pagan bird goddess. Try to hunt down the book of Vales. This alleged 7th century book written on wooden planks is based on earlier pagan cult.

Hardluck
