Hello Walyo

Do you know what dates were on the coins?

Is the document or map you posted the original document or a photocopy?

Do you have pictures of the coins?

In what region was the pot found?

Your answers to all of the above may help us determine the best advice for you.

Regards Hardluck Idea

Hello Hardluck,
The coins are not important - they were about 20 old Turkish coins about 200 or 400 years old. The important is the map - it shows where is the big treasure, but it is difficult to translate! Can you translate it? The pot with the map and coins were found in central Bulgaria. Please, write to my E-mail:

Walyo not sure why you think it's a treasure map??? But if it is the coins may be the key so keep everything together till you have a better ideal of whats going on.

No think real it could be a love letter who knows. I have seen 100's if not 1000's of so called treasure maps and most turn out to be of little importance. I am not saying that what you have is not a T-map but in my opinion it is not. Most T-maps have a key, what I am saying is the coins may be part of the key dates, size, etc. Lets be realistic for a moment why  someone who hid a large treasure also hid the map??? In 40 years of being a TH I have only seen one map that lead to treasure most or bogus or unreadable because the key to understanding it is not known. I wish you luck.

Did you see there are drawn maps. I asked my friends speaking old languages to translate - they say not possible, do you know why no one is able to translate it? I think it needs a cipher to translate, who will write love letter with code? Please, try to translate it: I will be happy if you do it, my friends told me there are 4 old languages, they know what the languages are and can not translate it. Amen Detecting

Hello Walyo

The date range of the coins may help you understand the reason behind the burying of the alleged treasure.

For example: You said the coins dated about between 400 and 200 years old? What dramatic events were happening in between those dates? say between 17th and 19th centuries?

With the decline of the Second Bulgarian Empire (1185 ? 1396/1422), Bulgarian kingdoms came under Ottoman rule for nearly five centuries. The Russo-Turkish War of 1877?1878 led to the re-establishment of a Bulgarian state as a constitutional monarchy in 1878, with the Treaty of San Stefano marking the birth of the Third Bulgarian State.

From this we can assume that perhaps the treasure was possibly related to events of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877?1878. From this if you could tell us the what the four languages are we might be able to point you in the right direction on where you may find a solution to the cipher.

There is a very rare old book that sold on the market for $250.000 dollars to an unknown collector. This book from my poor memory by Friderici in 1685 had many cipher codes that were known to be used well up after the Napoleonic wars. The book of codes and versions of it was used by European Royalty in secret dealing and treaties across Europe for about 400 years. This book although rare it is not the only copy. there are several copies of this book in several museums and Libraries across Europe.

It is possible that the Ottoman Empire had copies of this book too. If the treasure is related to the The Russo-Turkish War of 1877?1878. then perhaps one of cipher codes comes from that book was used in the four languages?

I have a picture of a page of the Cipher book this version I think is in German just to show you what it looks like. You may be able to find in your national library a copy or get information in what other library in Europe will have one.

I have two questions:

Was the Pot full of coins found near these places called Pleven or Ivanovo-Chiflik?

Now can you please tell me is the document or map you posted the original document or a photocopy?

Regards Hardluck  Huh?

Hello Hardluck,
Thanks for your mail. You know so much about Bulgaria! Everything you write is true!
During  the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878 many people had buried some golden coins.
Because they had to go to Turkey, it was not possible to carry the gold with them and they left it there, in Bulgaria, thinking in 1 or 2 years they will come back and take it.
Some of them did this, most did not. The old people died and had given their children the maps. Some times there in Bulgaria come people from Turkey - grand grand children of these people, trying to find the gold, but everything is changed after 130 years now.
May be the map is 130 years old, may be not! The four languages are: old Persian, old Greek, old Turkish and the 4 language I forgot. May be we could find the book written by Friderici with the cipher codes, But I do not think there in Bulgaria I could find it!
About your questions:
I do not know about the pot, found near Ivanovo-Chiflik.
The map I posted is a photocopy given to me from the people found the pot.
Regards Valentin
