The Fresh Canyon is drawn to the same scale as Salty River. It also shows it having a substantial length. Lesser streams are shown to the west of it.  So I do not think it is a small feature. There are only two in the neighborhood.

The one that fits the stream layout the best is Fish Creek Canyon. It is also a major feature when viewed from above. Gold has been worked in it's area. Trapped bench gold is often exposed in saddles and valley noses. This canyon has both.

Farther east Cotton Wood Canyon also has the length to be considered, but lacks the supporting side steam structure and isn't much of a canyon. It does have good water on it.

fresh, clean pure faultless flawless immaculate pristine spotless stainless taintless unadulterated unalloyed unblemished uncontaminated uncorrupted undefiled unpolluted unsoiled unspotted unstained unsullied untainted untarnished

I don't see hordes of detectors lined up anywhere in the area after the quail sized nuggets, so it's location is not presently known. Most likely it is in an out of the way area. I place where you can not drive very close to or trails leading to. A place where you might have to walk over rough terrain for miles. A remote canyon off a major canyon.

Fresh Canyon might just mean a good place for camp and rest.

oRo, you are thinking correctly, but reading too much into the clues and maps. These placers are well known, and were easily accessible.

OK,
Tools I used............ Terrabrowser, for large topo map
                               MapTech, for lat, long coor.
                               Google Earth, for terrain nav.
libraries, for books on placer deposits

First, I lined up Four Peaks with all the canyons on the opposite side of the Salt River. The only one that fit the Canyon de Fresca (fresh) was Pine Creek canyon. Then following up Pine Creek, I checked off side canyons to the north using Google Earth. Pine Creek canyon and its branches go a long way east, and then run into Haunted Canyon.(remember the clue,"don't be 'scared' to go up that canyon"?) There is an area north of the junction of Haunted Canyon and Pinto Creek called Gold Gulch, also a small area called Gold Mesa. I checked the books on placer deposits and found the Pinto Creek Placers. Bingo, everything fit.

oRo,
I never said anything about gold and the Salt River, and the placers are a LEFT turn out of Haunted Canyon onto Pinto Creek. It took me no more than two hours to find these placers using what I posted.
