Go Up Go Down

Found a trail head marker on my last trip.  It easily looked like a face with nose pointing north.  once at monument there was a hole going same direction as nose to look through.  a few hilltops over looking through the hole was another stone monument.  on approach  it looked like a clenched fist coming out of ground with thumb curled in.  there wasnt a real noticeable hole to look through on this one but considering the rocks may have slipped a bit over the years i looked through the only possible hole, making sure the time was around noon, and there was a reflection coming from a hill that was at least 60 miles away.  i didnt have gps so i didnt try and find the final mark or windshield glare or whatever it might have been but as i walked back down the hill towards the truck.  my son pointed to what he called an indians face on the hill across from us.  i looked up and the rock outcropping on the side of this 80 ft hill looked like a face looking up at 45 degrees. had a mouth lips eyes, chin  and on its head appeared to be other rocks making a headdress with feathers laying back on the mtn.  thats whay it looked like to me but might just be coincidence.  anyway i drove as close as i could to this and stopped.   across from the face was this very tall shear rock tower if you will.  somewhere i thought i heard a saying that when indians stole gold and valuables that they sometimes hid them "where only eagles fly" ? so i climbed up this prob 400 ft rock ledge with my son.  up near the top there was maybe not a cave but a big hole  from where i could see was at least 10 ft deep and 6 ft wide. so now i was standing on a thin ledge looking down about 400 ft to rocks below with the wind blowing.  that was ok but i also had my son  so i told him we had to go.  i thought i might of been able to scale the 10 ft down the rock face to climb into the hole or whatever it is but then i thought how i might not be able to make it back out ehh so i figured if i knew what was in there it might be worth a shot but i didnt want the papers to say "some idiot died apparently trying to get an eagle egg"  so we left.  any info on the monuments ill try to get the pictures on here but took em with my cell phone and im not sure i can make anything out.

theChad;

Is that it? Are you letting that go unexplored?  No no!

You need to go back with a rock drill and some hardware. Put in some anchors so you can safely explore!  Wise

I would like to hear the REST of the story.  Shocked

I saw a large image once almost exactly like you describe - full headdress and all on the backside of a hill. The rest of the area sounds different from what I remember - it was quite a long time ago. Nearest town to where I was is called California City.
