US army 1944 documents

Hi to everyone! I mainly search WW2 here in Italy. The problem is always to find documents, maps or something else about US army in Italy. Someone know where to get these informations? Or if someone has documents like war diaries about italy zone during 1944.

There are dozens, perhaps more like hundreds or thousands of history books and first person accounts of WWII published. You should have no trouble finding them.

I read several books, and stories too online, but no one write exactly about positions and so on. For example i got british diaries where there are exactly coordinates of HQ, movement of soldiers, what happened exactly etc....but for US i never found something like that

Remember, that battlegrounds are where the fighting happened. Encampments were not at the same place. Well fortified campgrounds where soldiers could rest were often nearby but safer than where the actual fighting took place. You can normally find out where precisely by speaking to the older residents around the battlegrounds.

yes exactly, this is what i'm searching. I'm mainly interested about war diaries of the battle, what exactly happened in that places, about fortifications, trenches, enemy outpost and so on

Get that book and when you visit the places, take a veteran from WWII to lunch. You will get more than enough information.

Not many WWII Vets still out there.   I still have a WWI vet here I can talk with.  100 Years old he is.  

Our VFW post went Tits up Dead Bug.  No one left to Support it.

World War I started in 1914 and ended in 1918. Do the math. He'd have to be 120 or so to be a WWI vet.

He's probably just confused.
