Hi,

i found this mediaval pedant from a horse bridle on top of a hill south of my hometown. I realy wonder how it get?s there because the area ist too steep for a horse.

The pedant is made out of bronze and then was gilded. At the bottom there is a small bell with a little iron ball in it and it still works  Smiley

The half moon is 6 cm wide. From the top of it down to the end of the bell it has 3,7 cm.

The pedant dates in the 14th century. One guy at the german forum found a picture which was painted end of the 13th century where we can see a similar horse pedant.

That is awsome.

I do not know how yu guys figger that stuff out.

I know how a lot of things get to where they should
not be.

Kids. A bell,,, How cool is that? A kid carried that
around and left it on the top of tha hill.

That may have happened. You never know?

But that just makes it interesting.

If there was any way to get a horse to the top of that hill, it sounds like a great place for a military commander to watch the battle and command his troops without distractions (others easily getting up there)...

HH,

This is indeed an excellent find. Well, I am very happy that we have such great opportunities in Europe with its long history. We have quite a few knowledgeable guys on my German detecting board who are very kind in helping to identify such great relics.

Thanks Mr. Simpson for sharing this great find with us!

Best wishes,

Christian

Has it really been that long? My, my. How time does fly. And not even a postcard from him.

One thing about this forum is that users can opt to get mail when someone posts on one of their topics. This may actually awaken Mr Simpson from his slumber.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
