Hi Paul
Toyota Landcruisers are the most popular ones they use over here , but any heavy 4x4 will do , most of the roads outback are dirt , covered with a thick layer of red dust called " Bull Dust" this dust gets into everything and when it rains the dust turnes into mud , The roads are corrigated like a sheet of corrigated iron so to drive over them shakes the crap out of everything , The faster you drive the smoother the ride 100 k an hour wouldnt be unusual . then out of bush will jump a Kangaroo 180cm 150 kg ( SPLATT ) could ruin your day.
