The Aldi machine is a cheap entry level machine , you get what you pay for , I don't think it would perform well on Salt , don't expect too much and you may do Ok , and Welcome to the forum ..cheers Mick

You would probably find a few coins in the dry sand on a beach. Just out of interest; what is the price of the Aldi machine?

those aldi detectors look like microntia clones on the outside, but the board is actually a surface mount copy of a bounty hunter board.
some of those chinese clones work better than others due to very poor quality control, take some batteries with you and try it in the carpark outside, if its a crap one take it back inside and swap it for another one.
though i would add a little bit more cash and buy the base model from garrett, whites, teknetics or even bounty hunter.
whatever you get good luck, and happy hunting.

Aldi metal detector? I'm looking at one right now, my wife decided to buy it at the start of the year, it cost her $99. OZ, we did an air test at home, so she could memorise what coin came up where on the display. In the afternoon I took her to a tot-lot that I know of that is out of the way but close to a school and was sure would produce a coin or two. My wife picked up just over $20 the first day, zooming in on the one and two dollar coins leaving the rest (small stuff) for me! The second outing with it was to the beach, on the dry sand nothing to be found, even my ACE 350 could not find a coin but if the ACE could find a bottle cap or a tent peg, so did the Aldi!

I think the little Aldi machine is an ok starter for someone just stating out and wanting to see if the hobby is for them, it has a waterproof coil and will find you coins in the tot-lot (some of them were a good 7"-8" down in compressed bark) it found coins at the park and I can see it making its cost back before the end of the year, my wife doesn't go out koin-shooting that often. It works!

I just wish that Aldi would sell a cheap pin-pointer that works as well as their metal detector!!
